South-South APC Cautions Ministers Against Disloyalty

The APC’s South-South zone has issued a caution to the newly inaugurated ministers, urging them to steer clear of corruption and disloyalty to both Nigeria and President Bola Tinubu.

The party has called upon these ministers to throw their support behind Tinubu’s vision for transforming Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape through the renewed hope agenda.

Dr. Blessing Agbomhere, the Zonal Organizing Secretary of the APC, conveyed this message in a statement released in Abuja. In the same statement, he extended congratulations to the ministers and also to Dr. Mary Alile Idele, the recently appointed APC women’s leader.

Agbomhere urged the South-South ministerial appointees, including Festus Keyamo, Betta Edu, John Enoh, Nyesom Wike, Ekperikpe Ekpo, Heineken Lokpobri, and Abubakar Momoh, to perceive their appointments as a call to serve the nation rather than as an opportunity for personal gain.

Being representatives of the South-South region within President Tinubu’s cabinet, Agbomhere implored them to develop strategies that would bring to fruition the aspirations of Nigerians who believe that President Tinubu is the right person to rejuvenate and restore the nation’s prospects.

He underscored the significance of the President’s directive to the ministers to prioritize national interest over their individual states or regions. Agbomhere emphasized that the ministers’ immediate task is to rebuild public confidence in governance, a crucial step towards realizing the government’s renewed hope agenda. Agbomhere urged the ministers to leverage their considerable experience in their respective roles.

Furthermore, Agbomhere called on figures like former Kebbi State governor Atiku Bagudu, former national deputy chairman (North) of the APC Abubakar Kyari, immediate past spokesman of the Tinubu Administration Dele Alake, former Osun State governor Adegboyega Oyetola, and other ministers across the country to set aside power dynamics and focus wholly on their mandates. He stressed that President Tinubu would not tolerate any attempt to obstruct the implementation of his carefully outlined roadmap for a more prosperous and secure nation.

Regarding priorities, Agbomhere noted that the economy and security are two critical sectors requiring improvement. He pointed to the solid minerals sector as one that has been neglected by previous administrations since 1999, yet holds the potential to significantly boost Nigeria’s foreign exchange earnings with the right policies in place.

Addressing Dele Alake, the Minister in charge of the solid minerals sector, Agbomhere suggested assembling a capable team to provide strategic advice for transforming the sector, given Alake’s media strategy background.

The APC’s South-South zone also encouraged the new women’s leader to leverage her philanthropic and humanitarian endeavors in rallying Nigerian women to actively contribute to the realization of the renewed hope agenda.

Agbomhere praised Dr. Alile Idele, the Edo State-born women’s leader, for her steadfast commitment to the APC’s cause, both in the South-South Geopolitical zone and across Nigeria. He expressed confidence that her presence in the National Working Committee (NWC) would greatly benefit the party.

Agbomhere highlighted Dr. Alile Idele’s humanitarian activities carried out through her reputable NGO, Sister-To-Sister International Inc., which has played a significant role in empowering young girls and women.

The South-South zonal organizing secretary of the APC commended Edo State party leader and lawmaker representing Edo North Senatorial District, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, for choosing Dr. Alile Idele as the women’s leader. He also extended gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support in realizing this choice.
