The Ogun State Government has distanced itself from a bogus website that asks unwary indigenous people to enter their personal information in order to obtain palliative monies from the federal government.
The administration acknowledged that the website was “aimed at fleecing gullible and innocent residents of the state,” according to a statement published by the Chief Economic Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Wednesday, emphasizing that it did not originate from the state government.
Okubadejo, on the other hand, urged the public not to enter their personal information onto the website, claiming that the crooks behind it may use such information to carry out illicit transactions.
“We wish to inform citizens of Ogun State that the website promoting the headline, FG 5bn Naira Ogun State Subsidy Palliative Online Registration (https://fg-5bns-naira-ogun-state.lin) is completely fake.
“The Ogun State Government has not set up any website for the purpose of distributing palliatives,” he warned.
Okubadejo maintained that beneficiaries of the government’s palliatives in Ogun “are not required to visit any websites.”
He added that the site had been reported to the police, “and we will do everything possible under the law to ensure that the masterminds of the fraud are brought to book.”
