Gunmen have tragically ended the lives of a newlywed couple, both esteemed educators at BECO Comprehensive High School in Kwi, situated within the Riyom Local Government Area of the Plateau. Alongside this heartbreaking event, the vice principal of the school was also wounded by the assailants. The harrowing incident took place on a fateful Monday.
The Plateau Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, verified the occurrence when speaking with the press. While Alabo abstained from delving into the intricate details surrounding the incident, he assured that the Command was actively managing the situation.
Mr. Rwang Tengwong, the National Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Movement, a socio-cultural organization, issued a statement on the following Tuesday in Jos. He revealed that the devastating incident unfolded around 3:00 p.m. on the preceding Monday.
”We are saddened by the invasion of BECO Comprehensive High School Kwi by gunmen.
“Two teachers, Mr. and Mrs. Rwang Danladi, a newlywed couple, were shot dead.
”Mr Dalyop Emmanuel, the Vice-Principal of the School, was seriously injured by the armed men.
”The teachers were holding a meeting to compile the results of students tests in preparation for the school’s 2023 Speech and Prize-Giving Day slated for this Friday.
”The injured person is currently receiving treatment at the Jos University Teaching Hospital,” he said.
The spokesperson expressed deep concern regarding the alarming rise in criminal activities within several communities across the state. This surge in criminal elements infiltrating these areas has been a source of great distress and poses significant challenges to the overall security situation.
”We call on security operatives to, as a matter of urgency, raid these communities that have become enclaves of criminals, particularly Fass and Mahanga in Riyom.
”This is necessary to get rid of criminal elements that have defied law and order,” he said. (NAN)
