The Seme Border Command of Nigeria Immigration Service and Lagos State Border Patrol Command Seme said their officers along Lagos Badagry expressway were not arrested by Inspector General of Police Special Squad as reported in some newspapers.
DSI Enoch Aparshe, the Public Relations Officer, Seme Command in a statement on Thursday said men of the two commands were on their lawful points along Badagry Seme expressway.
Aparshe said that the attention of the two commands were drawn to today’s publication in some newspapers saying that the IGP taskforce monitoring Lagos Badagry expressway arrested immigration officers along the corridor.
“Sincerely, our officers are on their duty points in Agbara, Gbaji and Seme and the patrol teams are doing their work without any molestation or harassment throughout August 9.
“There was nothing like confrontation or arrest from any quarters or Police taskforce.
“Nothing like a report of arrest of any officers from the two commands,” he said.
The PRO said Comptroller Douglas Audu, Comptroller of Seme command and Comptroller Emmanuel Gbemudu, Comptroller, Lagos State Border Patrol Seme were taken back by the write-up.
Aparshe urged newsmen to always find out the truth before disseminating reports to the public, adding that such information can tarnish the reputation of the Service.
Some media reported on Thursday that the IGP squad chased and arrested some police and Immigration officers found along Seme-Badagry checkpoints, believed to have been created purely to extort.
