The Nigerian women’s football team has moved from Sofitel Hotel, their accommodation during the group stage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.
Under the guidance of Randy Waldrum, the team has now settled into the Marriott Hotel in Brisbane, preparing for their pivotal round of 16 matches against England’s Three Lionesses.
The eagerly anticipated clash between the Super Falcons and the Three Lionesses of England is scheduled for Monday, August 7 at Lang Park in Brisbane.
This update was shared by the Super Falcons on their official Twitter account.
“Goodbye Softiel! Our splendid stay came to an end at Softiel Hotel as we moved into our new residence, Marriott Hotel in Brisbane for our crucial #FIFAWWC last 16 tie with Eng,” the Tweet reads.
Securing nine points from three games in Group D, England successfully advanced to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Nigeria secured their spot as the second-placed team in Group B with five points earned from the three group matches.
The Super Falcons achieved their most impressive performance in the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup held in the USA.
They managed to progress to the quarter-final stage, only to be defeated 4-3 by Brazil at the Jack Kent Cooke Stadium in Landover.
Remarkably, the Super Falcons have participated in every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup since its inaugural tournament in China in 1991.
