As exclusively reported by iwitnesslive.com yesterday, Police IGP, Kayode Egbetokun has rallied his armed to-the-teeth officers to get ready as the much anticipated labor strike goes ahead today as scheduled after talks between Presidential Palliative Committee and labour hit brick wall on Tuesday.
Recall iwitneaslive.com had monitored the closed-door meeting at Aso Rock yesterday with both parties failing to reach a compromise despite efforts and pleas from Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila on the need for NLC chieftains to give federal government more time to seek amicable resolution to the impasse.
The national strike will commence this morning with labour officials as well as human and civil rights organizations expected to assemble at strategic locations in Abuja and Lagos while civil servants in other states of the federation expected to observe the strike.
Only yesterday, General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun had warned NLC, and Trade Union Congress, TUC to ensure peaceful protest as police would not tolerate any violent protest called by the group.
Expect iwitnesslive.com to give you bit-by-bit reports on how the NLC protest unfold.
