Nasarawa Assembly Confirms 16 Commissioner-nominees

Governor Abdullahi Sule’s 17 commissioner-nominees underwent screening by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly. Out of them, 16 were confirmed during the House proceedings in Lafia on Tuesday. 

However, one nominee, Mr Haruna Musa from Nasarawa Eggon’s local government area, was absent due to indisposition and will be screened when available. 

The confirmation followed a motion moved by majority leader Mohammed Adamu Omadefu and seconded by House minority leader Luka Zhekaba. 

The process was announced by Speaker of the House Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who unveiled the commissioner-nominees during an emergency session last Friday.

He said: “Those 16 commissioner nominees that have appeared, screened and confirmed are Hon. Yakubu Kwanta-Akwanga LG, Aishatu Rufai- Awe LG; Umar Abubakar Dan’akano, Awe LG, Munirat Abdullahi; Doma LG; Timothy Kasuwa, Karu LG, Ja’afaru Ango, Karu LG; Margaret Elayo, Keana; LG, Bala Mulki, Keffi, LG, and John W Mamman, Kokona LG.

“Others include Abubakar Imam Zanwa, Lafia LG;  Samuel Kafu Emgba, Lafia LG; Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani, Nasarawa LG; Muhammed Iyimoga, Obi LG; Labaran Magaji, Toto LG; Gaza Gwamna, Toto  LG and Mu’azu Gosho, Wamba LG respectfully.”

The speaker afterwards directed the clerk of the house to communicate the house resolution to the governor for necessary action.

He said the house would proceed on recess today and resume on September 4, 2023.
