We"ll go for three points against Ireland-Waldrum

By David Kabiyesi

Super Falcons gaffer, Randy Waldrum has maintained that Nigeria will be going for an outright win against Republic of Ireland this morning.

In a chat with reporters on Sunday, Waldrum said: “Obviously we are in a really good position and so we’re looking much more forward to it than if we had dropped both of our first matches. We know how difficult it’s going to be.

“Ireland have got a very good team, I think they were very unlucky not to get results out of their first matches as well so we know it’s not a given. We haven’t advanced yet so we know how important the game is going to be.

“We want to get the three points because if we do that then we have a chance of winning the group and that would be amazing. I don’t think anybody except us would have expected that so I know it’s important to them and they’d love to win the group.

“Getting the three points gets us in regardless of the other game and even a point out of the game will get us advanced but they are hungry to get the three points and to top the group if possible.” He stressed that the team is in good shape ahead of the clash.

“Actually, we are doing better than we were last week, slowly starting to get everybody back to full strength so I think we should be in good shape for the match,” Waldrum stressed.
