Justice Chima Centus (CC) Nweze, a distinguished member of the Nigerian Supreme Court, has passed away at the age of 64, according to reports. As of the time of this report, the Supreme Court has not officially confirmed his demise.
Justice Nweze gained attention for his dissenting judgment in 2020, where he declared Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as the winner of the 2019 governorship election in Imo State.
Moreover, in a split decision of three against two, Justice Nweze delivered a controversial judgment of the Supreme Court, affirming Ahmad Lawan as the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Yobe North Senatorial District in the February 25 general election.
Born on September 25, 1958, in Obollo Eke, Udenu Local Government Area of Enugu State, Justice Nweze was appointed to the Supreme Court by Former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014, following the recommendation of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
