Bauchi State Police Command apprehends two suspected motorcycle snatchers involved in attacking and stealing commercial motorcyclists’ bikes. The arrested individuals are identified as Mustapha Adam (25) from Anguwan Mahaukata and Jafar Lawan (31) from Gudun Hausawa in Bauchi.
Adam and Lawan posed as passengers and got on an Okada ride with Kabiru Muhammadu (30) on July 27, 2023, starting from Magaji Quarters in Bauchi. The incident occurred from the Central Market to the old airport area within the Bauchi metropolis.
“At Wikki Oil axis, they brought out a trailer-wheel spanner and hit him on his head, and he sustained a serious injury to his head and fell unconscious.” As per a statement from the spokesperson of the command, Ahmed Mohammed Wakil.
Wakil further said that the command immediately drafted a team of detectives and swiftly rushed to the scene, evacuating the victim to a specialist hospital in Bauchi for medical attention.
“The detectives trailed the culprits, and they were successfully apprehended before arriving at their haven within Bauchi Metropolis,” he said.
According to the initial investigation by the police, the suspects are renowned and skilled at stealing motorcycles within and beyond the state.
The police said, “During Interrogation, the suspects confessed to the allegation against them and sounded remorseful.”
According to Wakil, the investigation is still ongoing. Once completed, the suspects will be identified and charged in court for their established offenses.
