Authorities in Adamawa State have verified the apprehension of 45 individuals who are allegedly linked to the vandalization of warehouses in Yola, the State capital, in search of palliatives on Sunday.
Additionally, the Police have successfully recovered some of the looted items from the arrested suspects. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Suleiman Yahaya, officially confirmed the arrests and informed that all the suspects are currently being held at the State Police headquarters in Yola.
To curb further unrest, a joint patrol team comprising the Army, Police, and other security agencies was deployed.
Amid these events, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Head of Operations in the State, Ladan Ayuba, verified that all four warehouses owned by the agency along Numan Road have suffered vandalism by the hoodlums.
“All the four warehouses belonging to NEMA in the state have been vandalized.
“This is high level of criminality, where food and non-food items were carted away,” Ayuba stated.
According to him, the miscreants targeted and attacked the recently renovated NEMA office, resulting in the loss of numerous official documents during the invasion.
In response to the unrest, the State government took decisive action by declaring a 24-hour curfew to restore law and order throughout the state.
In compliance with the curfew, markets and shops were shut down, and people were observed walking to their respective destinations on the streets.
