The Lagos State chapter of the Labour Party has called upon Governor Sanwo-Olu to provide further clarification regarding the origin of 103 corpses slated for a mass burial, which the state claims are victims of the #EndSARS protest.
The party emphasized the need for an explanation, as Governor Sanwo-Olu had previously acknowledged only one fatality resulting from the protest.
Labour Party argued that the circumstances leading to the deaths of such a substantial number of individuals required more transparency, and they vowed to persistently seek the truth until the information is disclosed.
Pastor Dayo Ekong, the state chairman of the party, conveyed this demand during a press conference in Lagos. She accused the state government of being less than forthcoming with the information provided, asserting that evidence points to a higher casualty figure than officially declared.
Ekong emphasized that the specific locations of the deceased, whether in Ketu, Agege, or Lekki, are not the primary concern. Instead, she underscored the fact that these are human lives, and the government should not proceed with mass burial without proper accountability.
