North West chairmen endorse Ganduje

The chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the seven states of the North West region have officially endorsed Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor of Kano State, as the national chairman of the ruling party.

Reports suggest that Mr. Ganduje has been tipped for the party’s top position following the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu. However, some party chieftains, including the national vice chairman of the Northwest, Salihu Lukman, have expressed opposition to Mr. Ganduje’s candidacy.

Nevertheless, in a joint statement released after their forum’s meeting on Tuesday, the chairmen declared their unanimous support for Mr. Ganduje. They justified their decision based on his competence and significant contributions to the party.

The statement was signed by Isa Acida (Sokoto State), EK Jekada (Kaduna State), Abdullahi Abbas (Kano State), Aminu Sani Gumel (Jigawa State), Abubakar Muhammad Kana (Kebbi State), Tukur Danfulani (Zamfara State), and Muhammad Sani (Katsina State).

The forum praised Mr. Ganduje’s accomplishments, particularly during the 2023 general election, where he played a crucial role in promoting the party’s candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, who emerged as the President.

The statement also acknowledged Dr. Ganduje’s extensive national outreach and efforts to convince Nigerians about the benefits of having Tinubu as president.

The state party leaders collectively assessed Mr. Ganduje’s qualifications, experience, maturity, steadfastness, commitment, and resilience, and concluded that he is the best candidate for the esteemed position of the party’s chairman, not only from the North West zone but in the entire country.
