Former Jigawa State governor Sule Lamido has expressed delight over a court ruling that struck out money laundering charges against him and his son, iwitnesslive.com can report.
The Court of Appeal on Tuesday delivered a judgement discharging him and his son Mustapha Sule Lamido on all count charges by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
Sule Lamido had filed an appeal of no case which had lingered for about nine years
According to Justice Adamu Waziri, the appeal is resolved against the respondent and in favour of the appellant.
“Having resolved them, he said, the ruling of the Federal High Court is thereby set aside, struck out, apparently discharged,” the judge ruled.
He said the Federal High Court Abuja is not within the territorial jurisdiction where the offence was committed and so it does not have jurisdiction to hear it.
EFCC had charged Mr Lamido alongside two of his sons – Aminu Sule Lamido and Mustapha Sule Lamido – and others on money laundering charges involving N712,008,035.
” I’m happy this case has finally been laid to rest after years of court proceedings. It is now clear that my family is free of all charges. All thanks to God almighty,’ Lamido said
