Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, the embattled Yoruba Nation agitator, has suffered a profound loss as his mother passed away.
Mrs. Adeyemo passed away on Saturday evening, and Igboho confirmed this tragic news in an Instagram post.
Having faced challenges since his arrest and arraignment in 2021, Igboho expressed that the weight of his mother’s death was too much to bear.
In September 2021, Igboho’s mother garnered attention when she, along with numerous supporters and allies of her son, visited Igboho’s town to offer prayers aimed at ‘nullifying’ the impact of a visit by cleric Sheik Ahmad Gumi to the same town.
He said: “My heart is heavy. I do not want you to leave just yet. I’m left alone in this complicated world. Mama mi, who would I turn to? It’s hard for me to say goodbye.
“The cold hands of death took you. It wriggles out from its dark depths and snatched you away. Mama mi, this is too much for me to bear. Too much.”
In one of his numerous interviews, the Yoruba Nation agitator, whose father is also late, confirmed that it was his mother who named him Igboho, which became a name tag people identified him with.
Also, Igboho’s spokesman, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed the death in a tweet saying; “I can confirm today Saturday 22nd of July 2023 that Dr. Chief Sunday Adeyemo (aka Sunday Igboho) mother died.”
