Ekiti Assembly yet to transmit confirmed commissioner-nominees’ list to Oyebanji

  • The Ekiti House of Assembly has confirmed that they have not yet sent the official confirmation of the 21 commissioner-nominees, who recently underwent screening by the legislature, to Governor Biodun Oyebanji.

Mr. Babatunde Oke, the Chairman of the House Committee on Media and Public Affairs, made this statement during a conversation with journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Saturday.

According to Oke, the delay in transmitting the confirmation is due to certain administrative matters that still need to be resolved.

However, he assured that as soon as these administrative issues are sorted out, communication regarding the confirmation will be promptly sent to the governor.

“A communication to that effect has not been transmitted because it is a process. Screening of commissioner-nominees, confirmation, and transmission are different processes.

“The issue of transmission is an administrative matter and there are still other administrative issues that have to be settled before transmission. This is a process our people must understand.

“It is a process and it is not complete until it is transmitted from the House, and the House is yet to transmit it until certain administrative issues are resolved and sorted out,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recollects that the assembly approved all 21 commissioner-nominees during the plenary session held on Thursday, following a two-week screening process.

NAN further reports that right after the confirmation of the commissioner-nominees, the assembly adjourned sine die.
