On Friday, the Oyo State Assembly announced the names of nine additional commissioner nominees submitted by Governor Seyi Makinde.
The Governor forwarded this supplementary list for the Assembly’s screening and approval on Thursday.
During the emergency plenary on Thursday, Deputy Speaker Muhammed Fadeyi presided over the session and presented the list to the House under a message from the Executive. The nominees are Mr. Abiodun Akinkonmo, Mr. Segun Olayiwola, Dr. Wasiu Olatubosun, and Prof. Abdulwaheed Soliu. The other nominees include Mr. Majeed Mogbojunbola, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Mr. Williams Akinfunmilayo, Prince Dotun Oyelade, and Mr. Obafemi Ademola Ojo.
Among the nine names, three individuals—Olatubosun, Olayiwola, and Olaleye—had previously served as commissioners in the state, while the others held various positions during Makinde’s first term in office.
The House decided that the nominees would appear for screening on Tuesday, 25th of July, 2023.
The Nation reported that Governor Makinde had initially sent seven nominees to the Assembly, and these Commissioner-nominees have already undergone screening by the lawmakers. The names of the two remaining nominees are yet to be disclosed to complete the 18 ministries in the State.
