On Wednesday, the Edo House of Assembly officially approved the appointment of Justice Daniel Okungbowa as the Chief Judge of the state.
Following a thorough screening and clearance process conducted by the house committee on Rules and Business and the Judiciary Committee, led by Majority Leader Charity Aiguobarueghian, the nominee received the necessary endorsements.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had submitted a letter, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, requesting the house to screen and confirm Justice Okungbowa for the role of Chief Judge.
Presenting the committee’s report to the house, Aiguobarueghian stated that Justice Okungbowa was found to possess the required educational qualifications and physical fitness for the position. The committee, having assessed his experience, recommended his confirmation.
In a unanimous voice vote, the lawmakers expressed their support for the committee’s recommendation, thus confirming Justice Okungbowa as the Chief Judge of Edo state.
