The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the postponement of its highly anticipated meetings of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC), which were originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
The new dates for both meetings have been rescheduled to July 18 and 19, as stated in a press release issued by the National Secretary of the party, Iyiola Omisore, in Abuja.
“Members of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress are hereby informed that our meetings of 10th and 11th of July, 2023, have been postponed to the 18th and 19th of July, 2023, respectively,” the notice said.
Furthermore, Omisore stated that the reason for the date change was to pay tribute to President Bola Tinubu, who recently assumed the role of Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) in Bissau, the capital of Guinea-Bissau.
The ECOWAS chairmanship is a position that rotates among the heads of state or government of the member countries and is held for a one-year term.
“The postponement is necessitated by the regional and sub-regional schedules and engagements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States. Inconveniences regretted,” he said.
In the meantime, the National Working Committee led by Senator Abdullahi Adamu has scheduled a meeting with all Chairmen of APC State chapters at the national secretariat in Abuja on Monday at 1:00 pm.
According to reliable sources, the former governor of Nasarawa intends to use this opportunity to provide the state leaders with updates on the nominees for the party’s statutory and ad-hoc committees, which will be presented for approval at the NEC meeting.
The presentation of the nominations for the National Advisory Council aligns with Article 13.2 of the party’s Constitution, as confirmed by a trusted source at the national secretariat.
