The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has released a list of 14 states and 31 communities that are at risk of heavy rainfall and potential flooding from July 4 to 8. Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Territorial Coordinator of NEMA’s Lagos Territorial Office, issued a statement regarding this matter.
In the statement, Farinloye urged relevant stakeholders in the affected states and communities to take necessary precautionary measures to prevent the loss of lives and property.
The states and communities identified by NEMA as being at risk are as follows:
Plateau: Langtang and Shendam
Kano: Sumaila and Tudun wada
Sokoto: Shagari, Goronyo and Silame
Delta: Okwe
Kaduna: Kachia
Akwa Ibom: Upenekang
Adamawa: Mubi, Demsa, Song, Mayo-belwa, Jimeta and Yola
Katsina: Katsina, Jibia, Kaita and Bindawa
Kebbi: Wara, Yelwa, and Gwandu
Zamfara: Shinkafi and Gummi
Borno State: Briyel
Jigawa: Gwaram
Kwara: Jebba
Niger: Mashegu and Kontagora
