Italian Serie A champions, Napoli are confident that Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen would lead the club’s Scudetto defense next season despite huge interest from Manchester United and Chelsea.
Napoli’s growing confidence is coming at the heels of a new agreement reached with the Nigerian international after fear grew among Napoli fans that their prize asset could be leaving the club.
Italian sports handle, Corriere del Mezzogiorno via Tuttonapoli revealed that Napoli and Osimhen’s agent Roberto Calenda will in the coming days meets Napoli’s chieftains to deliberate on the proposed deal.
Napoli wants Osimhen to stay for another year in Naples with his contract renewed and a probable release clause inserted into the new deal.
Napoli is desperate to keep the star man in a bid to wade off interest from other European giants who are bent on breaking the bank for the former Lille forward.
Osimhen inspired Naples-based club to win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.
