President Tinubu is currently engaged in a private meeting with the recently appointed Service Chiefs. The closed-door session commenced a few moments ago at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday.
In attendance are the Chief of Defense Staff, Major-General C.G. Musa; Chief of Army Staff, Major-General T. A. Lagbaja; Chief of Air Staff, AVM H.B. Abubakar; Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla; and acting Inspector-General of Police, DIG Kayode Egbetokun.
It should be recalled that prior to his recent trip to Paris, France, for a financial summit, Tinubu made headlines by dismissing the former service chiefs and unveiling new replacements.
Additionally, he appointed Malam Nuhu Ribadu, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), as the National Security Adviser (NSA), taking over from Babagana Monguno.
The appointments of the new service chiefs have elicited varied reactions from Nigerians. This current meeting marks the first official encounter between Tinubu, in his role as President of Nigeria, and the new Service Chiefs.
Tinubu’s initial face-to-face interaction with the security chiefs since their appointment on June 19 commenced at 03:00 pm local time.
