“Where did the fan love go?” – Asake accused of losing touch with fanbase when fame grows

In a recent social media outburst, a Nigerian man known as Mr Shizzy has publicly called out Afrobeats sensation Asake, accusing him of neglecting his loyal fanbase and failing to actively engage with them on various platforms.

Mr Shizzy fondly recalled the early days of Asake’s career, during which the artist actively interacted with fans through humorous promotions, dance challenges, and regular social media interactions.

However, the fan claims that as Asake gained more popularity, he started to disregard his fanbase by refraining from retweeting their posts or organizing giveaways.

According to Mr Shizzy’s tweets, Asake’s promotional efforts and fan interactions have reportedly dwindled since his rise to stardom. The disgruntled fan acknowledged that the support and assistance of fellow artist Olamide have allowed Asake to maintain some level of engagement with his online fans.

While Asake’s debut album ‘Mr Money With The Vibe’ has garnered global success, Mr Shizzy laments that the artist has not been actively participating in interviews or interactive sessions with his fans.

Mr Shizzy drew a comparison between Asake and Olamide, commending Olamide’s unwavering dedication to his fans over the course of approximately eight years before easing off.

With Asake’s upcoming show at the O2 in a few months, Mr Shizzy implored him to increase his promotional efforts by conducting more interviews and taking a more proactive approach in promoting his music.

The fan emphasized that relying solely on Olamide’s support might not always be available or sustainable.

Mr Shizzy’s message suggests concern over Asake’s lack of involvement and apparent indifference towards his own project, especially considering the significant upcoming event.

He encouraged Asake to engage in both local and international interviews while actively promoting his songs. Mr Shizzy stressed that now is not the time to relax but to intensify efforts for his project.

It remains to be seen whether Asake will address the concerns raised by his disillusioned fan and take steps to reconnect with his loyal fanbase.
