Cleric tasks Tinubu on sincerity, fight against corruption

The General Overseer and the President of the United Apostolic Church  of Christ  Worlwide  UACC, Reverend ,Dr.James Bayo Owoyemi  has urged political leaders in the country on sincerity in the scheme of things   to enable the country overcome the security  menace  and other various  challenges affecting  the  nation  for the benefit of the people.

The cleric lamented that the people lost confidence  in government  due to alarming rate of insecurity spurred by corruption and nepotism ravaging all circles in the country, he enjoined the government to strive hard and put in in place the modalities  that would curb the menace in order  to restore confidence on the leadership  in the minds of the people.

Owoyemi  however  expressed the belief  in the power of God to  turn things around  and bring better life back to the country.

The UACC General overseer  made the remark yesterday  at this year’s   annual  trustee meeting  which came up at the church premises in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti state, he stated that the meeting is aimed at  brainstorming  on the  development  and progress of the church for the benefit of the people.

“At the  trustee meeting ,the leaders meet to deliberate on how to move the church forward, the outcome of the meeting would then be taken to the executive , from there we move to the general committee  ,most  vital decisions are made  during this meeting.”

In his sermon titled: ‘Time for Total Restoration’, the cleric said: “God is God of restoration, we have the conviction that Nigeria is going to be restored, no doubt there is decadence in the land, things are not going well, however, there is optimism. God answered our prayers in the last general election, after the election, there was peace.

“We want Nigerians to have the belief  that God is interested in the restoration of the Country , we should be working towards that, we shouldn’t be working towards that everything should be destroyed and collapse ,we should work towards bringing Nigeria to its normalcy.

“Corruption has hitting  the deep to Nigeria system, if the present government can work to fight against nepotism, work towards eradicating or reducing corruption to the bearest  minimum.  Jungle justice should be curbed to make judiciary the real hope for the people, if normalcy can be restored to that system, it will make people  be interested in the system of government.

“Also, let there be reward for hardwork in Nigeria ,there are people who go to school, they work ,they labour at the end of the day, people who didn’t go to school have more reward, that’s abnormality in the system, at the end of the day, people lose interest in hardwork ,because they don’t see the reason in the reward of those who are hardworking.”

On  insecurity, he said: “If government can make provision for the youths, it will definitely reduce insecurity, a normal person cannot want to stay in the jungle, which means  it’s a condition that takes them to that because they know the law enforcement  agents would be chasing them around, every normal human being  wants to live a peaceful life, we want to belief that if the government produced a workable system, it will reduce  insecurity in the country.

“Government needs to be sincere  at all levels ,but  unfortunately  , some  people who are in government are also involved in the menace .  I have this conviction that Nigeria will  reclaim its lost heritage”.

The chief host of the Trustees meeting , Rev. Felix Tunde Popoola  said “the meeting involved many things, the development of the whole mission, the leaders  gather and discuss the development and the new agenda, new programs that the General overseer, that is the President  has for the mission after the meeting, they will start to implement the program. The objective of the meeting is about the progress of the mission and  where we are/ where we are moving to.”

He added that  it’s a  three –day event  with revival as commencement. “Thanksgiving was held at the last day after the leaders have met to round off the deliberations.”

The General Secretary of the church, Rev. Joseph Eniola  Oluwatuase  who stressed on the sermon, Time for Restoration  stated  that  “God is a God of changes and has the power to change all situations, we are very hopeful that Nigeria will be better .the church should assist the government with prayer supports  for the  development in the country.”

The wife of the General Overseer,, Rev. Mrs Mary, Joke Owoyemi  charged  women on tolerance and cooperation at home with the husbands in view of the economic hardship.

She said, “Women should try and understand what is happening  and cooperate with their husbands , we should not allow the hardship to affect the home, we should try and understand ourselves and know how to  stabilize everything in the family  ,as the helper, we should  help them and advise them on what to do  for smooth running of the family, as a woman, we shouldn’t be harsh to them and try our best to control the situation.”
