Barca sign defender Ona Batlle from Man United

Barcelona FC has made a significant signing for their women’s team by acquiring the services of right-back Ona Batlle. The Catalan club announced the transfer on social media, noting that Batlle’s contract with Manchester United would expire at the end of June.

The 24-year-old Catalan player, who initially developed as a youth player at Barcelona, has committed to a contract with the club until 2026.

Batlle, who played a pivotal role in helping Manchester United secure qualification for the women’s Champions League, will now vie for the starting position alongside England international Lucy Bronze at Barcelona.

During her three-year stint in England, Batlle made 77 appearances across various competitions after joining Levante in 2020.

Notably, Batlle was among the three Spanish women’s national team players who protested and voiced their concerns. She has received a call-up from coach Jorge Vilda to be part of the 30-player long list for the upcoming World Cup.
