Kano Electricity Distribution Company, KEDCO, has linked the incessant Power Failure that great the Ancient City to fault at the Shiroro-Kaduna 330KV Transmission Line.
Because the Citizens outcries over the problems, the Management apologized to their esteemed customers across the franchised States of Kano, Katsina and Jigawa and including some parts of Niger Republic, for the shortage in Electricity Supplies.
The Management insisted that the problems have strong links to fault on Shiroro-Kaduna 330KV Transmission (TCN) lines.
This was contained in a statement issued by the KEDCO’s Head, Corporate Communications, Sani Bala Sani on Sunday.
Bala disclosed that KEDCO has been informed by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) that work is still ongoing on the lines and expected to be completed today, Sunday 18th June 2023.
Recall that Shiroro-Kaduna 330KV transmission lines 1 & 2 being KEDCO’s main sources of supply have been out on fault since 26th April 2023 and 11th June 2023 respectively, resulting in its franchise area being fed alternatively on Jos 330KV transmission line.
According to Sani, the fault above consequently, has been responsible for the low megawatts allocation of an average 60MW against approved 300MW.
Sani noted that the Company is optimistic that as soon as work is completed on the lines, normal power supply and distribution will resume.
“While appealing for your understanding and patience, we sincerely regret all inconveniences caused” Bala apologized.
