Ashabi Simple, a Nigerian actress whose real name is Akinyanju Omobolarinde, has refuted a viral claim that she is married to the controversial street artist Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable.
Just a few days ago, the singer celebrated the arrival of his fifth child with his fourth baby mama, actress Ashabi Simple. They held a naming ceremony on Tuesday, June 13.
During the event, Portable made a comment about Ashabi Simple finally becoming a housewife, leading many to assume that they had tied the knot. He said:
“A stubborn child has eventually become a housewife. She is now a housewife. Praise Allah.”
However, in a recent interview with Saturday Beats, Ashabi Simple, who previously spoke about her relationship with Portable despite anticipating criticism, clarified that she is not married to the singer.
She emphasized that, contrary to popular belief, her connection with Portable is not driven by material possessions but rather by his care and support. She asserted her independence and successful career.
The actress, who is also a mother, revealed that she and the street-hop singer have intentions of getting married soon and that she is comfortable sharing him with other women.
Ashabi Simple disclosed that they both planned to have a child together, and their son was not a result of an unplanned occurrence. In her own words:
“He (Portable) has done many things for me but what stands out the most is the care and support he gives me. I am not here for the material things. I have produced movies and made my millions before meeting him. I have been a self-sponsored student even before I met him. I have been carrying responsibilities way back.”
“We have introduced our families and hope to get married soon. I am an entertainer and I have thought about getting married to him properly.
I did not get pregnant by mistake. It was planned and I do not expect to have issues with any of his wives or other baby mamas. I see some comments that I want to snatch Portable but I am not here to snatch anyone. I am just a shareholder and I cannot take care of him alone because I have my career and child. I also want to work more and be famous.”
Ashabi Simple also spoke on the singer’s personality off stage, noting that, unlike most people think, Portable is a calm and caring man. She said:
“One cannot judge his personality from his performance because that is what he does for a living and he has to put in his best and energy. As my man, he has always been calm and caring. He is always available when I want to talk to him and he is a great listener. Those are some of the things I like the most about him.”
