AFCON Qualifiers: Osimhen vows to sink Leone Stars, hails Drogba's impact

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has calmed the frayed nerves of Nigerian ahead of Sunday’s 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone, saying that the team is aware of the to go for a win.

Speaking after the team’s training on Wednesday, Osimhen stated clearly that Super Eagles will be going for a win against Leone Stars to win back the support of the fans following the disappointment of missing out of Qatar 2022 World Cup.

“We don’t want obstacles on our ways. We have a game on Sunday to qualify which won’t be easy,” Osimhen remarked.

“But we got the quality to execute it. A new coach came on with new strategies but we have to achieve our collective goals and be objective

“We want to bring our fans back to our side because we know they are understandably disappointed.

“It was disheartening for us when we couldn’t qualify for the World Cup. “

He then described his desire to emulate Didier Drogba saying:

“Drogba is a great striker who I want to emulate and achieve what he did in football or even surpass them.
