On Tuesday, Professor Abayomi, the Vice Chancellor of Federal University Oye-Ekiti, paid a visit to chef Damilola, who is currently striving to establish a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Chef Dami’s ambitious goal is to set a new record of 120 hours of continuous cooking. This extraordinary feat is taking place in the Oye Local Government Area of Ekiti State.
As of the time of this report, Chef Dami has already accomplished an impressive 111 hours of non-stop cooking.
In related news, Guinness World Records announced on Tuesday that Hilda Baci is now recognized as the new record holder for the longest cooking by an individual.
In a statement on its website, the GWR said, “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours and 11 minutes.”
The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began on Thursday, May 11, and continued through Monday, May 15, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.
During her record-setting attempt, Hilda aimed to achieve the remarkable feat of cooking for 100 hours straight. However, due to an unintentional error in timing one of her rest breaks, nearly seven hours were deducted from her final total. This adjustment was made to ensure accuracy and fairness in assessing her achievement.
