By David Kabiyesi

Leganes center-back, Kenneth Omeruo has lauded Jose Peseiro’s decision to invite more home-based players to the national team.

Speaking at the end of Monday’s training, Omeruo hinted that home-based players are always welcome, adding that their presence is always a welcome development that will usher in young players.

“For the national team, we need continuity and it’s good to give the younger players opportunities to play and test themselves as well.

“It is a welcome idea and they know they are always welcome.”

Former Chelsea central defender says the Super Eagles are going for three points against Sierra Leone to secure their ticket with one game to spare. “We are approaching the game with all seriousness, we know how important it is for us to qualify and better to do it with a game to spare so that we can relax and plan for the future.

“Everyone knows what we have to do. We are here to train and to make sure we go there to win.”

Nigeria will, on Sunday face Leone Stars of Sierra Leone at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex, Monrovi, needing a draw to secure AFCON 2023 ticket.
