In a swift u-turn to it’s earlier denial, the Department of State Service (DSS) has confirmed the arrest of former Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, iwitnesslive.com can report
The security agency officially confirmed the arrest in Lagos on it’s verified Twitter handle afternoon after initial denial in the early hours of Saturday.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons,” DSS said on it’s verified Twitter handle.
Recall the former CBN Governor was ordered to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the CBN governor pending the conclusion of the investigation and the reforms.
