Tinubu in close-door meeting with traditional rulers in Aso Rock Villa

President Bola Tinubu is currently meeting traditional rulers and their representatives from across the country at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.

Friday’s meeting is part of a series of engagements the President has been having with key stakeholders across the executive, legislative, business, and traditional institutions since he assumed office on May 29.

During the private meeting, Tinubu was anticipated to engage in discussions centered on national healing and unity, as highlighted in his inaugural speech.

In his opening statement, Sultan Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar III, accompanied by his fellow traditional rulers, expressed their visit to the President as an opportunity to extend congratulations and assure him of their unwavering support in the challenging endeavor of nation-building.

The Sultan further reasoned that the council of traditional rulers comprises professionals from diverse backgrounds, rendering the council a valuable resource for the President to tap into for expertise when needed.

He also expressed the traditional rulers’ confidence in Tinubu’s ability to put Nigeria on a path of progress, saying that they would support him in concretizing his renewed hope agenda into actionable policies.

On his part, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Adewusi, urged President Tinubu to make more “use” of the traditional rulers to address insecurity.

“Mr. President, use us. Use us. Use us,” the monarch said.
