Adebayo, popularly known as B-Red has said Burna Boy chased after his renowned hip hop superstar cousin, Davido’s car the first time they met in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
B-red, the son of the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, disclosed in an interview at Echo Room on Friday that Burna Boy was very excited to see both his cousin.
Davido’s recent interview caused a stir on social media as he unveiled a remarkable fact – he and Wizkid were the pioneering Nigerian music artists who successfully penetrated the global stage, bringing Nigerian music to an international audience.
Not stopping there, he also highlighted emerging talents such as Rema, Fireboy, Mayorkun, and Asake, along with Burna Boy, hailing them as the new vanguards propelling Afrobeats to a global audience.
In what seemed like a corroboration to Davido’s claims, Bred said, “The first day I met Burna Boy, it was in Port Harcourt and he was running after me and Davido’s telling us he loves our music.”
B-Red, during the interview, delved into his personal music journey and the initial challenges he faced while residing in Atlanta, USA. He openly shared the tale of his relentless hustle alongside his brother, Shina Rambo.
Interestingly, B-Red revealed that he was the catalyst behind Davido’s entry into singing. As Davido’s popularity soared, he expressed his admiration for his cousin, which inadvertently brought attention to B-Red, eventually kickstarting his own music career.
Through collaborations with Davido, B-Red gradually made his way into the mainstream music scene, experiencing a taste of success along the way.
Davido’s statement has since generated massive reactions across social media as some people agreed with the classification affirming that 2018 and ‘YE’ as the beginning of Burna Boy’s stardom.
On the opposing side are people who disagreed citing Burna Boy’s early success with his 2012 hit single ‘Like To Party’ as evidence that he cannot be classified as a new cat.
