Again, gunmen kidnap Catholic priest in Anambra

A Catholic priest named Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Mbamara has been abducted by gunmen in Nnewi, Anambra State.
The young priest was reportedly kidnapped Friday night as he traveled from the state capital of Awka to the parish he serves in Nnewi.

In a statement issued by the Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Fr. Raphael Ezeogu, the diocese asked for prayers for the priest’s release and expressed hope that he would survive the tragedy unharmed.

The following is from the statement: “Our priest, Rev. Fr. Stanislaus Mbamara, a student at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, was abducted last night (Friday) while traveling from Awka to Nnewi.

“Let’s storm heaven with humble and insistent prayers for his quick release in sound health of mind and body. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Help of Christians, pray with and for us.”

The statement was however silent over details of the kidnap, nor wether the abductors had been contacted.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga said he was yet to receive the report, promising to make enquiry.
