Tinubu, NLC bicker over subsidy removal

Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has kicked against President Bola Tinubu’s decision to remove fuel subsidy, stressing that the president was only flying a kite during his inaugural speech.

President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Joe Ajaero, argued that the removal of fuel subsidy shouldn’t have been mentioned during Tinubu’s inaugural speech.

“The comment on fuel subsidy removal is not well thought out, coming as an inaugural speech.

“It is going to draw the economy of the country backward by over 50 percent within the next 48 hours. Nigerians will speak in one accord at the appropriate moment.” Ajaero said in a text.

Long queues returned to filling stations on Tuesday in Lagos, thus throwing the nation into untold hardship as commuters paid more to move around after a litre of fuel was sold for N750.
