Ohanaeze calls unity amongst South-East governors

The South-East governors have been urged to work together and understand one another in order to advance the region, according to the leading Igbo sociocultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

During Gov. Peter Mbah of Enugu State’s swearing-in event on Monday in Enugu, the group’s national publicity secretary, Chief Alex Ogbonnia, made the request.

Coordination and understanding, according to Ogbonnia, are important for Ndigbo’s development. He gave the leaders instructions to act in the Igbo people’s best interests.

The governors were warned by the secretary not to put their own interests above of those of the Ndigbo.

Ogbonnia emphasized that the governors should know themselves, regardless of the many political parties to which they may belong, and work for the zone’s overall welfare.

“There must be a collective interest of Igbos and youths as well as synergy between Ohaneze and the governors so that Igbo people will move on. We saw what happened in the last election. We have seven Igbo governors, but they couldn’t manage the Igbo interests as they were not coordinated. So, this time around, we hope the governors will improve on that,” Ogbonnia said.

He praised Gov. Mbah for his tenacity, energy, and ability for service. He exhorted other regional governors to demonstrate the same traits.
