Despite a shambolic performance as the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, was on Sunday conferred with a national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic.

Honoured alongside the hugely unpopular CBN Governor was a former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Emeka Anyaoku who gets Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger.

Others are former Governor of Osun, Bisi Akande; Olusegun Osoba; Mamman Daura.

The outgoing president, Muhammadu Buhari also conferred national honors on some of his ministers including Chief Sunday Dare.

Emefiele’s tenure as CBN Governor witnessed inflation jumping to 22.04 percent, the highest in 17 years while his ill-thought naira redesigning policy pushed millions of Nigerians to poverty.
