Seun Kuti, a controversial Afrobeat singer, on Thursday flew to Zurich, Switzerland, to begin his European tour.
This was confirmed by Kuti on his Thursday Instagram story.
The musician uploaded a photo of himself boarding a plane with the comment, “Euro tour kicks off tonight in Zurich.”
This happened after the musician was detained on Tuesday night for punching a police officer and later released on bail.
You may recall that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) attempted to have the Afrobeat artist arraigned for allegedly assaulting a police officer, but the motion was denied yesterday by a Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court sitting in Sabo-Yaba.
The application was denied by Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, who also postponed the hearing to July 3, 2023, as he awaited the Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions’ (DPP) legal opinion on the situation.
The artist appeared at the Chief Magistrate’s court on Tuesday, May 23,2023, following his release on bond. Since May 15, 2023, he had been held in custody at the State Criminal Investigative Department (SCID) Panti.
