Aware of the Azzurri’s strength ahead of Wednesday tie with Nigeria, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is offering cash incentives to motivate the players to out in their best against Italy.
The Italian U-20 side are the numero uno of the group having defeated Brazil 3-2 in their opening match on Sunday, and NFF seems to expect a tougher encounter against the Italian hence the move have device means to motivate coach Ladan Bosso- lads.
“The Italians are very good. I watched their match against Brazil and they seem to be good in the air. But we will do everything to motivate the Flying Eagles to beat them. It might be difficult, but beating them (Italy) is not impossible.” NFF Secretary General, Mohammed Sanusi, said on Tuesday.
Nigeria defeated defeated Dominican Republic 2-1 in Sunday’s first group and would need to be at their best against The Azzurrini while Brazil square-up against Dominican Republic.
Nigeria had trailed the Dominican Republic in Mendoza after Edison Azcona opened the scoring from the spot in the 23rd minute. But the Flying Eagles’ high-intensity approach paid off in the second half, as they equalised through an own-goal by left-back Guillermo de Peña in the 31st, and got the winner in the 70th minute through Samson Lawal.
