Perhaps it’s time for AMVCA organizers to look inwards and re-assess its yardstick for selecting winners as well as overall organisation given the amount of backlashes the body is getting from Nollywood stars and general public lately.
Top-rated actor, Kunle Afod got emotional on Tuesday afternoon and questioned why AMVCA organizers failed to acknowledge late Nollywood stars.
At a time Nollywood is yet to recover from sudden death that is ravaging the industry, Afod felt it would have been ideal for AMVCA organizers to pay tributes to fallen heroes who had contributed immensely to growth of Nollywood over the years.
Racheal Oniga, Lari Williams, Dejo Tunfulu, Orisabunmi, Baba Suwe, Osmond Gbadebo, Tafa Oloyede, Moji Olaiya, Adebayo Faleti, Saint Obi, Alafin Oro, and Murphy Afolabi are just a few of the actors who passed away from the industry.
“AMVCA Omitted most of them yesterday for reasons best known to them ..
But we remember you and your works speak for you
Rest on heroes.”Kunle Afod wrote on Instagram.
