Osimhen finally obtains driving licence

By David Kabiyesi

Super Eagles and Napoli weapon of mass destruction, Victor Osimhen can now heave a sigh of relief after he finally obtained his driving licence from the Italian authorities.

At this juncture, the former Lille striker is eligible to drive around and beyond Naples at his own wish after he was being moved around by a chauffeur to keep up with teammates at traning ground and on match days.

Osimhen had travelled to Rome on Saturday pick up his document, a move coach Luciano Spalletti claimed affected his performance in Napoli 3-1 win over Inter on Sunday.

The towering striker was unhappy to have been replaced by Giovanni Simeone in the 69th minute, but Spalletti defended his actions on the ground that the Nigerian needs some rest after he suffered a flu during the week coupled with his trip to Rome on Saturday to pick up his driving licence.

“Osimhen nervous? The needs are what he has to do as a center forward, which he has always done. So we all have these needs there, he can get angry but it’s not always the coach’s fault if you change.

“The forwards live for goals. If one is below his means, as in this week when he had the flu, then on Saturday morning he went to Rome to get his driving licence. Everyone goes where they want.” Spalleti told by Calcionapoli24 after the match.
