Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi was on song twice as Nottingham Forest condemned Southampton to relegation morass in a thrilling 4-3 win on Monday night.
Awoniyi”a four months goal drought ended on Monday night scoring the goals when it mattered most to the delight of of the coaching crew and the fans as newly promoted side continue its fight against relegation.
The Super Eagles striker had a endured a difficult time at the club after he coincidentally scored his last goal in a 1-0 win over The Saints in January before injury kept him out for two months.
The 25-years old striker opened scoring for Forest in the 18th minutes while his second goal came in the 21st minutes.
Having featured in seven games since his return from injury, the forward finally found the back of the net and he did it in style to keep Forest’s hopes of staying in the topflight league alive.
He was taken off in the 81st minute for Sam Surridge.
Having seen Everton jump out of the bottom three with a stunning victory over Brighton earlier on Monday, Forest knew they needed to do the same and have now climbed up to 16th, above the Toffees.
