Photos as King Charles is crowned

Charles III and his wife Camilla have been crowned as king and queen of the United Kingdom and the other Commonwealth states at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023.

On September 8, 2022, Charles succeeded to the throne after his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, passed away. The religious service, which is centered on an Anglican Holy Communion service, is quite significant.

It highlights Charles’ dual roles as king in a spiritual and earthly sense by showing him being anointed, receiving the coronation regalia, and being crowned.

The coronation service for Charles and Camilla will be shorter than that of his mother in 1953 and will differ from previous British coronations in that it will honor a variety of religions, cultures, and communities from around the United Kingdom.
