Have mercy oh King! Nigerian Lawyer writes new British monarch over Ekweremadu

A Constitutional Lawyer,  Kayode Ajulo, has pleaded with newly crowned British monarch, Prince Charles to intervene in the sentencing of former Nigeria deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Beatrice, iwitnesslive.com ean report.

This was contained in his letter sent to King Charles who was crowned on Saturday.

“Your Majesty, though invigorated by your coronation I witnessed the same with mixed emotions.

“Ekweremadu and his wife have been convicted and sentenced accordingly and I plead that you graciously and mercifully invoke the Royal Prerogative of Mercy in favour of the couple,” he said.

Kayode described Ekwerenmadu’s saga as desperate move by parents who are determined to save the life their ailing daughter, Sonia.

He lamented that it was quite unfortunate that their doctor, in a bid to milk them went about the whole mission in an unpleasant and unlawful manner.

Only on Friday, Ike, his wife and doctor, Obinna Obeta were sentenced to 9 years, 4 years and 10 years respectively in prison by an Old Bailey Court for for violating British laws on kidney donation and transplant.
