Barely 17 hours after the sentencing of the former member of Nigeria’s Senate, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife., Beatrice, notable Nigerians from all works of lives have been bearing their mind on the issue.
While some Nollywood stars are filled with empathy for the family, others seems happy with the judgement.
Nollywood actress, Georgina Onuoha says the UK Court should have given stiffer jail-term to the Ekweremadus over human organ harvesting
“And let the choir say Amen. Serves them right. Do not take advantage of anyone because you are in a place of power.
“Dear Nigerian doctors, nurses and caregivers, do not sacrifice your licenses for anyone let alone Nigerian politicians who deliberately neglect our health care system back home but can rush overseas to be treated by the same Nigerians clinicians they treat poorly back home.
“As for the ex senator I hope they can extend his imprisonment. This same man was given millions if not billions to build hospitals back home in his state, he embezzled it. As for their daughter, I wish her well and good health. If she was better advised I’m sure she would have made a different choice.
“If you speak up and ask for help, I’m sure someone somewhere would have helped her out. Best of luck young woman and I pray God send you help and healing.” she said.
As for Reno Omokri, he expressed empathy towards the Ekweremadus saying he doesn’t know what he would have done as a parent in such circumstances.
” I do not support what Ike Ekweremadu and his wife did. I do not know what I would do in the same position,” he said
Top politician, Adam Garba felt disappointed that Nigerian government did not do enough to help Ekweremadu.
“I really do not like this. I see it as a dent upon the image of our country and its sovereignty. A whole former deputy senate president to serve a jail term in a foreign land?! What kind of country are we? he asked
