CAF turns down Sierra Leone bid to drag Super Eagles to Bo City

By David Kabiyesi

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has throw spanners into plans by Sierra Leone Football Federation(SLFA) to play its AFCON 2024 qualifier against Nigeria in Bo City.

Bo is the second-largest town in Sierra Leone and the country FA has been lobbying CAF to give its nod to host the return leg there.

The Southern Arena in Bo City can only occupy 6,000 spectators which is a far cry from FIFA and CAF standards, and SLFA had written the continental soccer governing body to approve it.

At this juncture, CAF is already seeking an alternative venue for the much-anticipated encounter after the soccer-governing body raise doubts over the facilities in Bo City as well as the hotels

Nigeria tops Group A with nine points after three wins from four games, while Guinea Bissau,  are second on seven points on the log.

Sierra Leone is on five points with one win and two draws, with Sao Tome and Principe on one point with only one draw.
