Lagos-based socio-tech enterprise, Quanta Africa, has announced the opening of applications for the second cohort of its TalentDev programme.
The programme is aimed at training and offering employment opportunities to 1,000 Nigerian youths, providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the rapidly evolving job market.
TalentDev is an innovative initiative designed to train 100,000 tech talents within five years, with a focus on developing audacious entrepreneurs across Africa.
The program offers a flexible payment option for tuition and assures employment opportunities upon successful completion of the program.
According to Dr. Stephen Oluwatobi, CEO of Quanta Africa, the TalentDev program has been highly successful in equipping tech enthusiasts with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the tech industry.
He added that the second cohort is set to begin on May 8th, 2023, and that the program is open to anyone with basic knowledge of computers, problem-solving skills, and a passion for innovation.
“Our goal is to empower young Africans with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in the tech industry and excel in the job market,” said Dr. Oluwatobi.
“We believe that by developing entrepreneurs and training tech talents, we can transform Africa and create a brighter future for everyone.”
The TalentDev program takes between 8-10 months to complete, with 4 months of live online learning, 3 months of internship, and mentorship between the training and eventual employment. The new payment structure for the second cohort allows students to start learning with as low as 20,000 naira monthly spread across 10 months, as opposed to paying 200,000 naira upfront. This makes the program more accessible to students who may have financial constraints.
Eniola Akintunde, a frontend developer who completed the program in the first cohort, expressed her satisfaction with TalentDev’s training model. “Learning at TalentDev was a very pleasing experience, and I never regretted taking the course,” she said. “Now I can make use of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to carry out my projects, and I will still learn a lot more during my internship.”
Quanta Africa is committed to empowering the next generation of tech talents and entrepreneurs, and the TalentDev program is just one of the many initiatives it has launched to achieve this goal. Interested candidates can visit the program’s website at www.talentdev.tech to learn more and apply.
