Former Barcelona defender, Winston Bogarde has thrown his weight behind underfire Super Eagles and Ajax defender, Calvin Bassey.
In a chat on footballtransfers.com, the former Dutch international believes Bassey’s Ajax teammates are not doing enough to help him settled down at the club.
He defended Bassey describing him as a good talent, but maintained that his teammates have not been working with him, knowing full well how difficult it is for new players to settle down well in their first six months.
“It’s not that the boy can’t play football, he has qualities. You have to work with a boy like that. It is difficult for a new player in the first six months to a year.
“I think that he is not helped in the field by his fellow players. If you know that he is less in the build-up, you have to make it as simple as possible for him by giving him multiple play options.” Bogarde noted on Ziggo Sport, via footballtransfers.com.
