Why I invited more foreign pros- Ladan Bosso

By David Kabiyesi

Flying Eagles gaffer, Ladan Bosso has finally opened up on why he looked foreign-based players to spearhead his team’s attack at the upcoming FIFA U-20 World Cup in Argentina.

Fielding questions from reporters in Abuja, Bosso believes the team struggled with goal-scoring at the African Youth Championship, adding that the World Cup doesn’t offer many opportunities to correct mistakes,

The like Joel Ideho (Arsenal), Ebenezer Akinsanmiro (Inter Milan), Victor Eletu (AC Milan), Ume Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi (both Botev Plovdiv) top the long lists of foreign pros invited by Bosso, and the coach his decision is in line with Nigeria quest to ensure it’s best legs are available for the competition.

“Of course. We have invited so many of them, particularly attackers even from the local league. In the Nigeria Premier League, the first seven highest goalscorers, only two can be looked at.

“All others have issues of irregularities from their documentation and this has been the problem we are having.

“We can still lay hands on those outside because certainly, their documentation is already clear because they are already playing abroad. I don’t have problems with their documentation.

“I have not secured them now, we just sent letters for them to come. By the time I feel the players can justify what they are here for, then we come out with their names.”
