Barring unforeseen circumstances, the president-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is expected back in Nigeria ahead of May 29 inauguration.
The absence of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress has started generating ripples as not much was heard about his whereabouts since he left the country on March 21.
His media aide Tunde Rahman had announced that the president-elect traveled to Europe to rest after a hectic campaign and to also use the opportunity to plan his inauguration.
He also disclosed that the former Governor of Lagos State would first visit France and later England before proceeding on lesser hajj in Saudi Arabia.
There were insinuations that Tinubu was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed ailment and although his media managers attempted to dispel the rumour, his failure to show up for the hajj seemed to give the rumour some wings.
However, our correspondent has learnt that the president-elect will land in the country Monday evening from Europe.
“He is expected back tomorrow (Monday). He has earned a deserved rest which allowed him to plan very well for his inauguration. Asiwaju is not someone that will sit down doing nothing; he’s been planning hard for not only his inauguration but how to hit the ground running from day one of his administration.
“The fact is that he was getting reports regularly from the transition committee. He’s been monitoring activities and giving directives. Activities will reach frenetic levels as soon as he arrives and Nigerians can now trust the leader they have voted for,” a source in his media team said.
